Styling the bump: Braving a maxi

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll probably know that my boyfriend and I went for a lil night away to Malton last week and that the weather was bloody marvellous! However, you also probs know that I’m 6 months pregnant, so while the weather was great, it was also a liiiiiiil stressful trying to find something nice to wear that I actually felt comfortable in.

As I spoke about in the first of my Styling the bump series, for a while I hid away in big ugly T’s and stretchy leggings (and sometimes I still do), but as the weeks have gone on and I’ve started to embrace the changes in my body a little more, I’ve been pushing myself to step out of my comfort zone and wear things that actually show off, maybe even accentuate (!!!) my ever growing tum.

(Spoiler: Believe it or not, no gin was consumed… roll on September)

I’ve never really been the maxi dress kinda gal but this Primark one caught my eye straight away. The rope belt did a great job of pulling me in at the waist while showing that I was pregnant in a more bump, less frump kinda way, and teaming it with a white T-shirt covered me up enough to not feel too exposed and to feel comfortable enough to head out without a jacket!

Obvsss I saw this as the perfect opportunity to wear my new sandals 💕(can you marry a pair of shoes???). I love how they tied the whole outfit together and created a real casual vibe – especially as I was feeling a little out of my comfort zone in a long dress.

Of course, I wore my ASOS sunglasses (because it was sunny, but also because I am the worlds most awk person at getting photo’s and somehow the glasses make me feel less under pressure).

I then finished the whole ensemble off with these gorgeous hoops that I was kindly gifted from Eternal Collection. Now, I’m gonna let you into a secret, I don’t actually have my ears pierced, and before you think up some awful scenario in your head of me forcing these earrings into unpierced ears, let me blow your mind and tell you they’re actually clip-ons!

These are the first clip-on earrings I’ve ever tried that A) actually looked like real earrings, B) felt comfortable to wear and C) Didn’t fall off once throughout the day. And I. Am. Obsessed. These ones are the Hoopla 60mm silver hoops but they sell so many other pairs over there (both clip-ons and normal) so be sure to take a look if you’re in the market for a new pair!

I actually ended up loving this outfit and feeling really good in it at all day which is a definite win at this stage! I still have days where I look in the mirror and the realisation that the weight isn’t just going to my bump, and is instead kinda just going… everywhere, hits me like a tonne of bricks. But as I said in my last post, I’m really making a conscious effort to embrace the weight gain as much as possible. What I’m doing is something I’ve always dreamt of, my main goal in life has always been to be a Mum, and I appreciate just how lucky I am to be turning that dream into reality more and more every day.

All I want is to look back and to have fond memories of being pregnant and I genuinely believe that finding these outfits that make me feel good in myself help me in that journey so so much.

Be sure to let me know your top maternity finds if you’re pregnant! And don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Twitter for updates on my pregnancy and much more!

Love, Beth xx
